Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the origin and development of the Integrated Rescue System (IRS) in the Czech Republic, its characteristics and main tasks of the basic and other IRS bodies in the preparedness and solution of emergency and crisis situations, with the principles of tactical, operational and strategic management of IRS bodies, with the role of the public authorities in handling emergency situations and within the population protection. The course furthermore provides information on current threats that can negatively affect health care service in relation to the provision of medical care, on the field of crisis management, and above all on the preparedness of inpatient facilities to provide care in emergency and crisis situations involving mass casualties, including the processes and procedures arising from trauma plans of outpatient and inpatient facilities.

Requirements:

The exam is in the form of a written test. The re-sit is also in the form of a written test with a minimum of one week after the first test. The test contains 20 questions, including supplementary questions: 20-19 correct answers = 1 (A); 18-17 correct answers = 1,5 (B); 16-15 correct answers = 2 (C); 14-13 correct answers = 2,5 (D); 12-11 correct answers = 3 (E); 10 and less correct answers = 4 (F).

•Basic terminology in the field of security, security of the CR, security system.

•Possible types of threats and their division.

•Characteristics of basic and other bodies of IRS.

•IRS activities in emergency and crisis situations.

•Coordination of IRS bodies. Cooperation of dispatch and information centres of IRS.

•Preparedness of medical facilities to emergency and crisis situations.

•Specialised workplaces in the crisis management system in the healthcare service.

•Trauma planning.

•Status and role of disaster medicine.

•Mass casualties – basic principles in solving emergency situations.

•Triage and treatment of mass casualties, activities of IRS and medical facilities.

•Chemical, biological and radiation noxes, their characteristics, medical solution in the threat to population.
