Syllabus of lectures:

Global weather patterns and synoptic weather systems.

Water and energy in the atmosphere.

Transport processes in the atmospheric boundary layer.

Estimation of evapotranspiration.

Snowmelt.

Infiltration.

Soil-plant-atmosphere continuum.

Precipitation.

Evaporation, potential transpiration, snowmelt

Soil water, infiltration, effective precipitation

Hillslope runoff, kinematic wave, linear reservoir

Unit hydrograph

Frequency analysis of extreme precipitation and flood flows

Study Objective:

The course emphasizes the quantitative description of hydrological processes using mathematical and physical approaches. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to use the knowledge gained to solve more advanced hydrological problems requiring the application of numerical models.
