Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of modern specific forms of management - Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Process Reengineering and the relationships between them. At the beginning of study, are explained roots of Business Process Management, the individual developmental waves by world authors (King, Fingar, Smith and others.).

Requirements:

Continuous evaluation work of the student during the semester. This evaluation includes:

Write a seminar paper - in the form of an essay on a selected topic (useful in the focus of the lectures) . Presentation (20 min) of the content and main tasks of a seminar paper during semester.

FINAL evaluation tests, held by oral or written knowledge test.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Process Management - Introduction, reasons for study, the benefits to business practices

2. Management systems - functional and process conception - basic terminology

3. Business process analysis

4-5.I. wave of BPM and its focus on continuous process improvement and II. wave BPM to achieve a radical increase in the organization's performance

6-7.III. BPM wave leading to creation of process oriented organization and IV. BPM wave leading to competitiveness based on the processes and process management software support

8. Relationship between Business Process Management and Business Process Reengineering and certification according to ISO 900X

9. Components of process management and their application in business

10. MRP I and MRP II

11. Industrial engineering- definition , methods

Syllabus of tutorials:

1) Introduction - Conditions for granting credits, essay outline, the manner and extent of processing.

2) Analysis of individual parts of the essay, detailed instructions for its preparation.

3) Basics of modelling in ARIS - methodology, basic methods ARIS

4) Structure ARIS database, creating and login on to a database, create a logical database structure ARIS, ARIS Explorer function

5) Basics of process modelling in ARIS database - the logical structure of the database

6) Modelling organizational structures using ARIS - objects (functions, data, etc.).

7) Fundamentals of process modelling in ARIS (surveillance model), details of topics - procedural aspects: the value-added model (VAC)

8) Creating and editing a VAC model, model properties, customization images, group structure

9) Practicing basic principles ARIS database - the logical structure of the database

10) Basics of process modelling in ARIS (detailed models) - process flow modelling using the extended event-driven process chain (Extended Event - Driven Process Chain - eEPCA)

11) Monitoring and evaluation of models, Separate processing process models according to requirement - class exam.

11 ) Evaluation of seminar papers.

Study Objective:

Students will be familiarized with the possibilities of practical application of the basic components of process management, which are for example: identify the key (main) processes, process mapping and creation of process maps (business process model) as well as for the evaluation of cost effectiveness of processes and increase their efficiency, and continuously improve processes measuring their performance, information technology as a support of business processes etc.

In particular, attention is paid to the modelling processes. Students will be familiar with the procedures for working with the selected complex software tool for modelling, design and optimization of business processes. Among other visualization methods for mapping processes enable effectively structure and document process knowledge and its users are supported by a number of functionalities, not only for process modelling, as well as giving presentations and creating reports.

Easily and clearly defined methodology in this course conveys to students easily define processes which flows through specialized departments of model company.

The course presents the case studies application of a number of different components of process management in different organizations, manufacturing or services.

Value-added is taken into consideration throughout the whole course.

In terms of the subject there is the theoretic knowledge of Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) put into practice via working with ARIS Business Architect (resp. ARIS Business Designer).

This software presents a complex tool for simulation, suggestions and optimalization of all business processes.

Students will be familiarized with visualization methods that enable their users to effectively structure and document business processes in more detail. As the users of this software students will be supported by a lot of utilities for process simulation, presentation and report generation.

This software product enables an easy definition of processes which pass through all company departments.
