Synopsis:

Studio creation is an application subject in which students apply the knowledge gained from a wide range of architectural disciplines with their own artistic opinion and creativity.

The theme of the studio is the design of an apartment building of tangible size, with an emphasis on the idea, the concept of the solution, the relationship of the designed object to the surroundings, the object's own spatial structure, layout solution, structural feasibility. It is essential to find a modern artistic and aesthetic expression in the context of the place and the surrounding buildings. Understanding of basic spatial relationships in the design phase of the project using the elementary tools of architectural creation.

Requirements:

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS, GRAPHICS PROCESSING:

A joint drawing of the studio will be presented, containing assignments and mutual comparison of individual solutions - student work (overview material solution, unified view).

Format of submission of work: a sample layout with a uniform graphic will be delivered.

CONTENTS OF DOCUMENTATION:

PERSPECTIVE

The main perspective shot from the horizon of a person capturing the connection to the surroundings, supplemented by partial shots, documenting the object.

Prefer drawing to photo (as main or partial perspective), same shot for all projects.

SOLUTION CONCEPT

Graphically expressed solution concept.

SITUATION, M1:200-1:250

Drawn as a view of the roof with an expression of the plasticity of the object, greenery, etc. (shading), it also contains contour lines (modified terrain), roads and paved areas, a simple design of greening (low and high greenery), ground floor solutions (surfaces), utility networks (schematically ). It is necessary to indicate the main overall dimensions of the building and the land, mark the main entrances and entrances, the cardinal points, the location of the perspective shot, a description of the objects, equipment and surfaces on the land being dealt with.

FLOOR PLANS OF INDIVIDUAL FLOORS (detail M1:100)

Detailed solution including equipment (furniture, furnishings, etc.), construction system (separate construction diagram), description of rooms, basic dimensions of the building. (overall, not detailed). The detail of the floor plans will correspond to a scale of 1:100, in the resulting presentation it is possible to present a typical floor plan in 1:100, the remaining floor plans using a proportional scale in a smaller scale (e.g. M1:150).

CONSTRUCTION DIAGRAM

Documenting the main supporting structure of a typical floor with marking of the stress directions of ceiling structures, consoles, modules, contours of the lower and upper floors. According to the attached pattern.

SECTIONS (detail M1:100)

Display of supporting and perimeter structure, original and modified terrain, basic height dimensions. (floor levels, roof ridge, modified terrain, etc.).

VIEWS (detail M1:100)

Basic views, 1 view in color variants with a description of surfaces and materials, views discussed with details corresponding to the scale (main division of surfaces, walls, shading, landscaping, possibly greenery.).

COVER TEXT MESSAGE

Description of the idea and architectural solution of the object, its justification and description of the location of the object in relation to the surroundings, description of volume, layout, structural and architectural solution, simplified calculation of the plot area, built-up area and built-up space of the object.

ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Beyond the framework, it is possible to process a simplified „Energy label“ of the object (using e.g. a web form) with a graphic output of the energy label with the building's rating. It is advisable that elements appear in the projects in a simplified form: rainwater storage, PV panels, shielding, realistic proportions of thermal insulation (pedagogues will help).

MODEL

Models of the proposed objects will be submitted, ideally from uniform materials within the studio.

SKETCH

The sketchbook is part of the submission - documentation of the creation process, processed in presentation quality.

Syllabus of lectures:
Syllabus of tutorials:

MAIN OUTLINE OF THE SUBJECT BY INDIVIDUAL WEEKS (BLOCKS) OF TEACHING:

1. Presentation and familiarization with the assignment, typological introduction to the chosen type of building. Discussion. Start-up tasks, assignment of typology analysis and creative research, presentation of current architecture on the assignment topic (pedagogue).

2. Visit to the addressed locality. On-site surveys and analyses. Supplementing and clarifying the framework specification. Presentation of start-up tasks, evaluation and discussion.

3. Presentation of current architecture (students), evaluation of research, site analysis and typology. Determining the main ideas, necessary connections to the surroundings, surface and spatial relationships. Consultation of idea proposals.

4. Conceptual models, solution variants. Determining the main ideas, necessary connections to the surroundings, surface and spatial relations, mass solution, working model. Consulting concepts.

5. Conceptual models, solution variants. Determining the main ideas, necessary connections to the surroundings, surface and spatial relations, mass solution, working model. Consulting concepts.

6. Concrete architectural design of the building - based on the conceptual model, with all the necessary attributes of the building design. Basic structural, typological and technological solutions. Consultation of model and drawing sketches.

7. Individual studio presentation of projects in progress - site analysis, concept of architectural and technical solution.

8. Development of an architectural design - individual and group consultations. Refinement of form, function, construction, including the solution of the surrounding parterre and urban connections.

9. Development of an architectural design - individual and group consultations. Refinement of form, function, construction, including the solution of the surrounding parterre and urban connections.

10. Development of an architectural design - individual and group consultations. Refinement of form, function, construction, including the solution of the surrounding parterre and urban connections.

11. Individual studio presentation of projects. The subject of the presentation is the architectural and technical solution of the project before completion, the perspectives, model, and explanatory drawing documentation are presented.

12. Final consultation of the proposal, in terms of content and graphics.

13. Final consultation of the proposal, in terms of content and graphics.

Study Objective:

Emphasis is placed on the creativity of the listeners, on the relationship of the proposal to the specific urban environment, as well as on the reality and sophistication of the architectural and construction-technical solution, the quality of the aesthetic solution, including technical and material details. Projects are submitted in the form of an architectural study.
