Synopsis:

The course introduces students to basic biopolymers - carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids and lipids. Their structure and biological functions, and basic metabolism. It is also focused on the analysis of biological material, approach to the analysis of biomolecules and preparation of samples, methods of analysis and evaluation of the clinical laboratory.

Requirements:

Prerequisites: Regular preparation of laboratory exercises:

1st. knowledge of workflow and theoretical background of each task

2nd. in the homework will also calculated the portion needed for the preparation of solutions, their accuracy will be checked before each job

Successful completion of the test (for successful completion of the test, you must obtain at least 60% points).

Exam: oral examination

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Significience of clinical biochemistry, biochemistry laboratory,laboratory testing phase.

2. Peptides, proteins , structure and function, metabolismus of proteins.

3. Enzymes, their importance for the body and the importance of their determination for clinical diagnosis

4. Biochemistry of nucleic acids.

5. Lipids, phospholipids, glycolipids and membranes. Isoprenoid lipids. Lipid metabolism and dg. their failures.

6. Saccharides, glycosides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Carbohydrate metabolism and fault diagnostics.

7. Hormones. Biological oxidation. Vitamins. Nutrition.

8. Metabolism of water and minerals, osmolality. Acid-base balance and its disorders.

9. Clinical Laboratory Medicine. The analytical characteristics of laboratory methods. Properties lab. methods clinically Specificity analysis of biological materials.

10. Characteristics of methods and principles of devices used in research laboratories, clinical biochemistry and hematology. Classical and modern approaches to the analysis of biomolecules. Methods for sample preparation for bioanalysis

11. Liquid Radioisotope and mass spectrometry methods. Bioaffinity sensors. Bioselektivní surfaces. Electrochemical biosensors.

12. Separation methods in the analysis of biologically active substances. Analysis of carbohydrates. Analysis of lipids and steroids.

13. Immunoassay. Immunochemistry. Immunochemical reactions. Current immunoassay technology. Clinical laboratory medicine.

14. Check the quality of laboratory tests. Analysis of xenobiotics, pharmacokinetics foundations. International and national control systems.

5. Determination of ions and inorganic substances

6. Determination of ketone bodies, carbohydrates and hemoglobin.

7. Immunochemical methods - ELISA

8. Electromigration methods

9. Properties and determination of hormones.

10. Toxicological examinations. Determination of drugs.

11. Acid-base balance. Determination of buffering capacity and build a calibration curve

12. Quantitative determination of serum protein

13. Basic hematological tests, hematology analyzers

14. Credit test

Study Objective:

Acquiring knowledge in the field of biochemistry. Mastering the list in the chemistry of natural substances in natural laws deriving from the metabolism of organisms. Become familiar with different types of materials evaluated in a clinical laboratory, theoretically become familiar with the methods used in clinical laboratory practice and evaluation and the practical ability of the selected method.
