Design and construction of concrete, steel and composite bridges. Basic terms, structural types and construction technology.

1. Introduction, history of bridges, basic terms, disposition and materials for bridges.

2. Main bridge parts, types of bridges, esthetics of bridges

3. Substructure

4. Load and cross section of bridges

5. Basis of the bridge design

6. Bridge equipment, deck, bearings, expansion joints

7. Main types of concrete bridges

8. main types of steel and composite bridges

9. Erection methods of concrete bridges

10. Erection methods of steel and composite bridges

11. Temporary bridges, load tests of bridges, diagnostics of bridges, load capacity of bridges

12. Refurbishment and reinforcing of bridges

13. materials - requirements for the quality management, requirements for the design and construction, design stages

Syllabus of tutorials:

Design of the beam prestressed concrete or steel/concrete composite bridge.

Study Objective:

The main goal is to obtain basic knowledge about design and construction of bridges.
