Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to students acquaint with the latest trends, practical experiences and theoretical knowledge of project management. After completing the course, participants will be able to plan, manage and successfully complete projects or fully participate within the project team to implement a commercial project. Students will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of project management, which will extend the qualification of skills they use in their future work practice, as this area is currently employers strongly preferred. Become familiar also with the issue of planning and preparation of project budget, managing changes in project risk management in the project and the essential requirements of the role and responsibilities of a project manager.

Syllabus of lectures:

Outline a year-class object - 2 semesters: „Project Management“

Winter semester : program of lectures - outline:

(1) Basis of project management. What is a project? Management projects.

(2) Preparation and verification of the project. Phase of the project, the principles of design.

(3) The integration of project management (PMG) into the organizational structure of the company.

(4) The nature of the Project Management Team. Basic concepts, hierarchies, project supervision, project manager, project team.

(5) Conflict resolution in general and in the project, mentoring, coaching.

(6) Project planning, material content, process planning process. Structured decomposition of project activities, responsibility matrix.

(7) Time project implementation plans, cost planning, scheduling risks. Documentation of the planning process, the use of computers in the planning process.

(8) Implementation of the project. Tools to survey the state of the project. Monitoring of compliance deadlines, resources and costs. Management and control of project quality. Methods for reporting on the status of the project.

(9) The final phase of the project. The content, procedures, documents.

(10) Role of consultants and contractual relationships with them. Requirements advisor when it is appropriate to use external workers? Selection of consultants and communication with them. Evaluation of their proposal.

(11) The responsibility of the coach and counselor.

(12) The capital projects and investments. Sources of financing, venture capital, investment costs.

(13) Analysis of market demand. Demand and supply. Elasticity of demand and supply, competition analysis.

Summer semester - program of lectures - outline:

(1) Introduction, analysis phases of the project (LRM) The logical framework matrix.

(2) Application of the rules in SMART project management and competence in the project.

(3) Identification and management of project risks.

(4) Quality management in projects IPMA standards.

(5) Analysis of case studies.

(6) Analysis of the most common causes of project failure, requirements for inputs and outputs of the project.

(7) Management of change during the project's monitoring and control.

(8) Managing creativity of employees and their motivation and stimulation.

(9) Introduction to ethics and morality in project management.

(10) The methodology completion of projects.

(11) The management of life cycle of projects.

(12) The division of the project into the structures WBS Work Breakdown Structure and specification of works according to SOW (Statement of Work).

(13) Monitoring the implementation of the project with EVM (Earned Value Management).

Syllabus of tutorials:

Winter semester - exercise Program - Synopsis:

(1) The evaluation of the project.

(2) Models of organizational structures (PRMG).

(3) Structured decomposition of project activities, responsibility matrix.

(4) Creation of a calculation time of the project implementation plans.

(5) Planning costs. Planning risk. Documentation of the planning process.

(6) The use of computers in the planning process, management of the project, the tools to survey the state of the project, monitoring of compliance deadlines, resources and costs.

(7) Methods of reporting on the status of the project, documents the final phase of the project.

(8) Calculations evaluating the effectiveness of investment in the project. Analysis of sources of investment financing.

(9) Methods of forecasting. Extrapolation of trends, coefficients of final use, expert forecasts.

(10) Capacity calculation, measurement time funds and volume. Restrictive conditions of production programs.

(11) Determination of the number of workers and jobs. Principles of standardization work.

(12) Budgeting investments, creation and distribution of profits, the critical point analysis.

(13) Calculations using the computer, the economic evaluation of the project.

Summer semester - exercise Program - Synopsis:

(1) Introduction to the exercises, explanations requirements, practicing Logical Framework Matrix (LRM).

(2) Simple project 1) competence in the project.

(3) Examples of project risk management.

(4) Examples of quality management in projects according to IPMA standards.

(5) Simple design 2), project organization, and teamwork.

(6) Development of project budget, practical examples.

(7) Simple Project 3), resource requirements, project management, project changes.

(8) Examples of practice according to IPMA standards.

(9) Project 3) changes in project management, monitoring, control.

(10) Other examples of project risk management.

(11) Monitoring the implementation of the project with EVM (Earned Value Management).

(12) Project 3) project completion and final report.

(13) Presentation of individual projects, final test.

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is a detailed presentation of project management in technical fields. Students are acquainted with the terminology, principles and methods of this managerial specialization. The emphasis is on clarity defining the project objectives, as well as a comprehensive, integrated and interdisciplinary management, linking knowledge of many technical disciplines associated with structural issues, technological design and management of productive rationalization. Elimination foreseeable risks along with cost-effective financial management and communications, directed to the outcome of the project. This requires proper provision of individual sub-goals, necessary to achieve the level of TQC. The primary purpose of this course is not only to introduce students to the principles and standards of the leading project management team as well as the creation of entirely new professional competencies of a successful project manager. The aim is therefore to learn to use project management as a permanent instrument of progress, especially in the field of engineering.
