Selected Chapters of Radiology - Specifics of Children's Age, Contrast Media & Traumatology

Synopsis:

The subject acquaints students with special chapters of radiodiagnostics concerning examination of paediatric patients. Projections will be discussed, which are specific for this group of patients. Specific features of radiation protection and system of work at paediatric X-ray working sites will also be considered. The students will also master basic knowledge of contrast media used in radiodiagnostics. Terminology, composition, use and undesirable reactions will be presented. Special chapter will be aimed at conventional radiological procedures at X-ray departments of traumatological centres.

Requirements:

100% participation in lectures,

demonstration of the knowledge mastered by a written test,

passing the examination by the method set.

Skiagraphy of children - axial skeleton and head.

Skiagraphy of children - limbs.

Skiagraphy of children - the lungs and abdominal cavity.

Radiation protection of children and accompanying persons.

Specific features of skiascopy of paediatric patients.

Outline of contrast media in radiodiagnostics.

Composition, premedication, effects, undesirable effects.

Positive contrast media.

Negative contrast media.

Outline of examination with the use of contrast media.

Special features of skiagraphy of polytraumata.

Summarization conclusion.

Test for credit.
