Synopsis:

Methods of molecular spectroscopy, fundamental principles. Nuclear magnetic resonance, 1H and 13C NMR techniques in organic structural analysis. Special techniques 2D NMR, COSY, HECTOR. Infrared spectroscopy, fundamental principles. Finger print and practical applications in analysis. UV-VIS spectroscopy, fundamental principles. Mass spectrometry, methods, ionization techniques, fragmentations, applications in structural analysis.

Requirements:

The course will be inderstood by students who master basic knowledge of analytical and organic chemismy and instrumental methods at the undergraduate level.

Syllabus of lectures:

.Overview of methods of molecular spectroscopy, fundamental principles.

2.NMR, fundamentals theory and applications.

3.1H NMR in organic structural analysis.

4.13C NMR in organic structural analysis.

5.Special techniques of NMR.

6.2D NMR, COSY and HECTOR.

7.Infrared spectroscopy, fundamental principles and methods.

8.?Finger print? and characteristic vibrations.

9.Practical application of IR in structural analysis.

10.UV-VIS spectroscopy, fundamental principles and methods.

11.Application in structural analysis.

12.Mass spectroscopy, fundamentals, experimental arrangement. 13.Techniques of ionization, pre-separation, basic types of fragmentation.

14.Applications in structural analysis.

Interpretation 1H and 13C NMR.

2. Interpretation 2D NMR, COSY and HECTOR.

3. Interpretation IR spectra.

4. Ionization techniques.

5. Interpretation MS.

Study Objective:

Aim of the course is to give students basic knowledge of spectral methods in organic chemismy.
