Synopsis:

Terminology of evironmental terms, Laws 114/1991 and 100/2000, Detailed description of the EIA process from the point of view of the investor, the designer and the public, physical principles of acoustics, noise from traffic and anti-noise measures, emissions and immissions from traffic, historical development of emitted pollutants on characteristic roads in the relationship between increasing traffic intensity and decreasing emissions from better-quality vehicles, animal migration and its reasons, ways of financing road construction and maintenance according to categories and owners, functioning of municipal and city authorities, competence of mayors, councils, councils and officials of the Department of Transport and Construction, advantages and risks transition to electric cars, technical, economic and environmental aspects and risks, issues of transition to hydrogen cells, history of highway construction in the Czech Republic, basics of automobile traffic modeling, aesthetics of off-road road design, landscape profile considerations, relationships between directional and height profile, most common mistakes in proposals, risks of ill-advised acceptance of data from CRMV for transport ex numbers, the principle of determining the dynamic composition of the vehicle fleet, the differences between static and dynamic composition in the data.

Requirements:

During the course of the semester in one lecture, students work on the task of calculating the equivalent noise level at a specific point on the facade near a busy road. The purpose of the practical exercise is to acquire knowledge of all incoming data and their share in the result. At the end of the semester, students write a final test of questions from the entire range of teaching.

Submitting the task within the prescribed deadline and scope.

Compulsory attendance at classes, maximum 3 excused absences.

The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient conditions for successful completion of the course.

Syllabus of lectures:

1 - Introduction to environmental protection, environmental legislation, EIA process.

2 - Traffic acoustics

3 - Air protection from pollutants from transport

4 - Historical development of emission pollution from roads in the Czech Republic

5 - Wildlife migration in relation to road construction

6 - Financing the construction and maintenance of roads

7 - The functioning of municipal and city authorities in relation to automobile transport and their structure and competences

8 - Electromobility, its principles and possible risks, other alternative drives

9 - History of highway construction in the Czech Republic

10 - Car traffic modeling, basics of GIS

11 - Aesthetics and safety in road design

12 - Dynamic composition of the fleet

Syllabus of tutorials:

During the course of the semester in one lecture, students work on the task of calculating the equivalent noise level at a specific point on the facade near a busy road. The purpose of the practical exercise is to acquire knowledge of all incoming data and their share in the result.

Study Objective:

In the lectures of the YEES course, students will learn about the basic principles of critical environmental thinking. The study does not go too deep into theory, rather it shows examples of situations that students may encounter in their future careers. Eliminating some media clichés about the relationship between transport and the environment is also essential in the teaching. The study is not aimed at students being able to create an acoustic or dispersion study themselves, but rather what this study is for, how they can use it and what to avoid when ordering it. The second part of the subject is aimed at acquiring basic ideas about some less common, but useful knowledge from the field of traffic engineering, which can open up further possibilities for improving the quality of work (especially in road design).
