Synopsis:

This is a multidisciplinary course which is open to students with different background (physics, chemistry biology, engineering). The course is devoted to advanced research in the chemistry, physical chemistry, and chemical physics in the process of creation nanostructures and study of proceses in 1,2,3- dimensional restricted nanovolumes up to molecular and atomic level.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1) Physical and chemical properties of materials, fundamentals of chemical thermodynamics and kinetics

2) Fundamentals of colloid chemistry, electrochemistry and physical chemistry of surfaces

3) Fundamentals of polymer sciences

4) Self-assembly and self-organization, irreversible processes, Onsager reciprocal relations

5) Lithographic methods, soft-lithography, shadow lithography

6) Synthesis of metal nanoparticles, their physical properties, aspects of particle anisotropy

7) Synthesis of semiconductor nanoparticles and polymer micro-particles

8) Self-assembly approach to preparation of composite materials

9) Bioinspiration and biotemplating

10) Some nanoscopic methods

11) Applications of nanomaterials
