Structural design, project 2
- Department of Steel and Timber Structures
Project 2 is supervised by various departments with more possibilities of its professional focus. Students may select among the departments to enrol for the project depending on their specialisation. The content of the subject is design of part of the building and its documentation. The subject may be focused mainly on building structures where the main structural members are designed together with detailed design of non-load bearing construction and building physics. For projects with the main focus on structural engineering, main load-bearing elements are designed together with building's spatial stability and foundations. Also, calculation procedures, drawing documentation of the structure and its main detailing is also part of the project. The project may be also primarily focused on building services, technology of building construction or material engineering with only simplified drawing documentation of the building.
Part of the subject outcomes is a presentation of the student's work to the class and supervisor with discussion and reasoning of the selected solution and procedures.
Steel structures 1, Steel Structures 2 and Timber structures 1 courses or similar courses completed.
