Synopsis:

Determination of the total discharge in the cross-section by velocity area method. Estimation of water surface profile. Estimation of Manning's roughness coefficient.

Description of the soil profile, soil sampling, measurements of the soil moisture and soil water potential, measurements of the saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of the soil, ponded infiltration experiment.

Study Objective:

Student understands basic elements of hydrometry and hydraulic characteristics evaluation of the open watercourse. Student gets general knowledge about behaviour of water in the soil and related measurement devices and methods, including evaluation of the infiltration of water into the soil.
