Synopsis:

The course is designed to provide engineers with the basic information and skills necessary to

manage a production System of the Enterprise. An emphasis will be placed on the necessary

steps in planning, operating and evaluating of manufacturing process. The topics include: Entrepreneurial Characteristics of Production Systems. Operations Competitiveness, Productivity and Strategy. Japanese methods of Improving Productivity. Recent Trends for Production Systems Designing. The Significance of Aggregate Planning. Production Planning and Budgeting Process and the Role of Engineering Economy. Reasons for Preparing the Manufacturing Business Plan. Decision Making in Production Management. Using Forecast Information in Production System. Value Analysis Introduction. Processes of Manufacturing Standardization. Material Resources and Capacity Planning. Advancement of the Production Quality Systems.

Teaching appropriately integrates knowledge of a number of related managerial and technical subjects and also responds to the needs of business practice and international cooperation of EU countries.

Requirements:

Requirements for course credit: Attendance, active participation, final test, presentation. Exam from lecturing topics.

(1) Characteristics and trends of POM, forecasting, qualitative and quantitative methods.

(2) Techniques for aggregate Planning, disaggregating the AP, master scheduling.

(3) Inventory management I. Economic Order Quantity Models EOQ

(4) Inventory management II. When to Reorder - ROP models

(5) Inventory management III. Fixed-Order-Interval models

(6) Inventory management IV. The Single-Period models

(7) Advanced approaches in production (JIT, Toyota production system)

(8) Benefits of JIT Systems, maintenance systems, OEE enumeration

(9) Scheduling and Operations Strategy

(10) Production lines optimization

(11) Material Requirements Planning (MRP), TQM

(12) Major Advantages of Production Planning System, Logistics

(13) Computer Integrated Manufacturing.

(1) Forecasting I. Qualitative and quantitative methods, averaging

(2) Forecasting II. Extrapolation of trends, forecasting mistakes

(3) Aggregate planning

(4) Inventory management I. Economic Order Quantity Models EOQ

(6) Inventory management III. Fixed-Order-Interval models

(7) Inventory management IV. The Single-Period models

(8) Advanced approaches in production (JIT, TPS, Kanban, TQM, TPM)

(9) Maintenance systems, OEE enumeration

(10) Scheduling

(11) Production lines optimization

(12) Significance tree application in POM

(13) Pareto analysis application, TQM

(14) Synthesis of basic conceptions.
