Synopsis:

The overall aim is to explain globalization as an economic phenomenon and to bring the environment in which the world economy develops. Demonstrate the effects of globalization on integration processes, economic environment and personal liberty.

Requirements:

Active participation in seminars, continuous and regular homework, active participation in discussions in seminars, group seminar work and its presentation, respectively individual essay derived from the presentation.

Theoretical knowledge of the discussed topics including the practical application of specific examples will be examined test in writing with supplementary oral examination.

Content focus of the course:

- Terminology, definitions and relationships in a global environment.

- Short history of the world and European economic environment.

- Corporate Social Responsibility and Creating shared value

- Democracy and liberalism in the process of globalization.

- The effect of the current global environment for world trade, the principle of free trade as an important factor of economic growth.

- The impact of globalization on the changing organization of production, in particular example of multinational companies.

- The impact of globalization and the single European market on the Czech economy.

- Corporate Social Responsibility and Creating shared value - discussion of practical examples

- The effect of the current global environment for world trade, the principle of free trade as an important factor of economic growth - discussion of practical examples.

- The impact of globalization on the changing organization of production, in particular example of multinationals - discussion of practical examples.

- The impact of globalization and the single European market for Czech economy - discussion of the potential barriers to the competitiveness of the EU and the Czech Republic.

- Discussion on themes of semester students work in the following areas:

- Current problems of globalization, globalization vs nation-states, informal mechanisms of governance.

- Global Problems of Humanity (environmental protection, sustainable development, new energy sources, etc.)

- Social and cultural dimensions of globalization, human rights and security policy

- The economic dimension of globalization

- Globalization / internationalization and new management theory

Study Objective:

Specific objectives:

- Explain what preceded globalization.

- Get an overview of the conditions for the development of globalization.

- Meet the new trends and developments in globalization.

- To learn the principles of free trade and its impact on economic growth.

- To learn the principles of sustainable development, knowledge economy.

- Discuss the activities of multinational organizations (UN, IMF, WB, WTO) and selected integration groupings (G8, G20, BRIC, etc.).

- Discuss the new management theory in the context of the activities of multinational companies.

- Discuss the impact of globalization on European and national economic environment.
