Synopsis:

Electric and non-electric quantity sensors for drives, Basic sensors types - physical principles. Theoretical fundamentals, practical choice of suitable sensor, sensor output electrical circuit, sensor output signal processing, digital signal processing and noise suppression. Sensor output signal time characteristics and frequency characteristics. Practical lab verification of theoretical principles

Requirements:

Active participation on labs, presentation of own lab works

Syllabus of lectures:

1.Sensors categorization

2.Measurement chain, sensor generations overview, sensor parts, terminology, intelligent sensor

3.Sensor parameters, range, sensitivity, accuracy, static and dynamic characteristics, measured object interaction

4.Temperature sensors (resistive, PN junction, thermocouple, I2C interface), design, characteristics, evaluation

5.Voltage and current sensors (transformers, hall-sensors, galvanic insulation), design, characteristics, evaluation

6.Speed rotating sensors, DC and AC electrodynamic sensors

7.Rotating and linear position sensors. Optical sensors (incremental and absolute), magnetic sensors

8.Rotating and linear position inductive sensors, selsyn, resolver, inductosyn, linear differential transformer

9.Rotating and linear position sensors, capacitive sensors

10.Rotating and linear acceleration sensors, semiconductor accelerometers

11.Pressure sensors (metal resistive, semiconductors resistive), air and liquid flow sensors

12.Contactless data transmission from sensors

13.Advanced drive sensors for transportation

14.Noise suppressing methods
