Synopsis:

Connection of measuring instruments to a PC (including notebooks), their integration into DAQ systems. Programming of DAQ systems on the user level. Modular system based on measuringmodules with standard interfaces including virtual instrumentation. Fieldbuses - basic overview. Comparison of single types of DAQ systems, principle of their integration, practical aspect of design. Labs are aimed on programming the systems mentioned above using different developing tools.

Requirements:

Knowledge of C language

Syllabus of lectures:

1. DAQ systems - overview and basic properties of single types

2. IEEE 488 bus; IEEE 488.1 and 488.2 standards

3. SCPI - Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments

4. Service request (unexpected events or critical states reporting); serial and parallel poll

5. Connection with serial data transfer (RS-232, USB, Ethernet)

6. Measuring modules with standard interfaces - structure and parameters

7. Application problems of plug-in boards, limits by measuring of dynamic signals, influence of disturbances

8. Programming of systems using plug-in boards

9. Accessories and signal conditioning modules, used standard interfaces - overview

10. Basic principle of virtual instrumentation

11. Program packages for measurement application

12. Graphical development tools for DAQ systems

13. Industrial distributed systems - Fieldbuses (basic overview)

14. Comparison of single types of DAQ systems, principle of their integration, practical aspect of design
