Synopsis:

Overview of electronics. Universal and special computer architectures and functions.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Electronic circuit, Ohm's law, dipole term, tripole term, their characterization, integrative and derivative RC element, parallel and serial RLC circuitry

2. Semiconductors, diode, rectifier, other types of diodes. Bipolar transistor, unipolar transistor, triac and its circuitry

3. Integrated electronics - linear integrated circuits, operational amplifier and circuitry, voltage stabilizer

4. Digital electronics, Boolean algebra, logical circuits, types of combinational and sequential circuits, TTL and other sets

5. DA and AD converters, solid - state memories

6. Computer basics - von Neumann concept, controller, memory, computer categories, monitoring.

7. Memory - memory systems, virtual memory, segmentation, cache, associative memory

8. Processor - HW and SW controller, RISC, CISC, microprogramming, instruction queue, pipelining, examples.

9. Single-processor computers - bus, peripheral devices handling, interrupt, DMA, examples.

10. Buses and interfaces USB, IEEE488, RS232C, PCI, ATA, SATA, SCSI, I2C.

11. Parallel systems - granularity, parallel algorithm, VLIW, SIMD, multiprocessor systems

12. Interconnection networks - static, dynamic networks.

13. Other types of computers - Data flow systems, systolic arrays, optical and quantum computers

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Simple circuitry calculations, Norton's law, Thevenin's law, divider

2. Impedance, Kirchoff's laws, parallel and serial connectivity of the capacitors

3. Diode circuitry

4. Transistor circuitry

5. Amplifier circuitry

6. Logic circuitry
