Laser oscillator, the rate equation, the laser amplifier, Q-switching, mode-locking

Syllabus of lectures:

Laser oscillator, pulsed and steady state regime, rate equations for laser oscillator. Laser amplifier, amplified signal distortion reason. Q-switching mode, types of Q-switches, Q-switching rate equations modification and solutions. Types of mode-locker.Examples of Q-switched and mode-locked lasers.

Skills: calculation of the laser oscillator output basic characteristics, selecting a suitable Q-switch, the design of Q-switched laser, the design of mode-locked laser.
