Department of Nuclear Chemistry
Synopsis:

Practical training of students in the use of selected modern instrumental methods and techniques for solving some physico-chemical analytical and others problems. The training is carried out in the laboratories of Czech Academy of Sciences (Institute of Physical Chemistry) and partly in laboratory at the Department of Nuclear Chemistry.

Requirements:

Graduation of theoretical lecture from analytical chemistry

Syllabus of lectures:
Syllabus of tutorials:

1.Use of FTIR spectroscopy for the study of surfaces and their reactivity.

2.Kinetics of simple isotopic exchange catalysts-gaseous phase studied by means of mass spectroscopy.

3.Study of non-stable radical intermediates by means of electrochemically generated luminescence.

4.Measurement of the ESR spectra of electrochemically generated radical anions, their analysis and interpretation.

5.Use of ESR spectroscopy for the study of radicals in solid.

6.Study of the kinetics of heterogeneous catalytic reactions by means of GC/MS detection of the products.

7.Electronic spectroscopy with laser excitation.

8.Study of triplete- triplete spectra of anthracene. Study of selected oxide catalysts by means of photoelectron spectroscopy.

9.Application of atomic absorption spectroscopy.

10.Phase analysis by menas of X-ray diffraction.

11.High performance liquid chromatography.

12.Utilization of the scanning electron microscopy for the research of solid surface and microstructure.

13Fundamentals of X-ray florescence analysis

Study Objective:

Graduates win a good scientific fundamentals and habits as well as a new knowledge on selected modern instrumental methods. They win the competence for practical use and applications of these methods in physico-chemical research and for solving some analytical problems.
