Synopsis:

The course is the introduction to the digital electronics for physicists. It describes the function principles of combination circuits, simple sequential circuits and complex circuits like microprocessors. The microcomputer architecture and principles of interfacing is shown.

Requirements:

knowledge of linear circuit analysis (11ANEL at FNSPE).

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Boolean algebra, logical functions and operations, binary system. 2. Number representation, arithmetical operations and their logical representation, codes. 3. Combination logic, relay logic, TTL STL CMOS and other logical systems. 4. Logical circuits synthesis, programmable array logic. 5. Sequential logic, finite automaton, simple sequential circuits. 6. latches, counters, frequency dividers, registers, shift registers. 7. Memories. 8. Microprogrammed sequential circuits. 9. Microprocessor architecture and function principles. 10. Data format, addressable memory, registers, instruction set, IO communication. 11. Interfacing, polling, interrupts, DMA 12. Binary inputs and outputs. 13. A/D and D/A conversions, analog inputs and outputs. 14. Serial and parallel communications, Instrumentation buses.
