Synopsis:

The course Basis of Bridge Design is focused on principal problems related to design of bridges - spatial arrangement and equipment of road and railway bridges, types of bridge structures and technologies of construction of concrete bridges.

Syllabus of lectures:

The course of Bases of Bridge Design is focused on principal problems related to design of bridges - spatial arrangement and

equipment of road and railway bridges, types of bridge structures and technologies of construction of concrete bridges. During

seminars, design of a road, single-span, cast-in situ, prestressed concrete slab bridge is carried out.

Lectures (L) and seminars (S):

1. L:Terminology. Spatial arrangement and equipment of road and railway bridges.

2. S: Design of a road, single-span, cast-in situ, prestressed concrete slab bridge. Part 1 - drawings (cross section, longitudinal

section).

3. L: Bridge bearings, expansion joints.

4. S: Properties of cross sections.

5. L: Types of bridge structures.

6. S: Materials. Permanent actions.

7. S: Influence lines. Traffic actions.

8. L: Technologies of construction of concrete bridges.

9. S: Thermal actions. Calculation of internal forces.

10. S: Combinations of actions.

11. S: Design of prestressing.

12. S: Verification of SLS and ULS.

13. S: Consultations.
