Combined Heat and Power Generation

Study aim of the course is focused on district heating systems with combined heat and power generation. Basic topics are:
?Thermal cycles of CHP plants, their energy and exergy evaluation and comparison.
?Design of plant capacity and parameters, optimization of power to heat ratio.
?Technical and economic aspects of CHP plant operation.
?Options of consumer connections to heat grid and comparison.
?Environmental impacts of CHP plants.
Topics will be modified according to the subject of thesis.
- Syllabus of lectures:
Thermal cycles of power and heating plants, energy and exergy comparison.
Choice of capacity and output parameters for different plants,
cogeneration ratio. Optimization of the cogeneration factor. Technical and
economic evaluation of the operation. Possibilities for the connection of
heat consumers to DH network and their comparison. Heat storage.
Environmental impacts of power and heating plants operation.
