Synopsis:

Kinematical description of fluid flows, fluid deformation. Potential flow fields, simple potential flows. Composition of potential flow fields. Conformal mapping. Thin airfoil theory. Aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils. Equations of viscous flows. Prandtl's differential equations of boundary layer, Kármán's integral equations of boundary layer. Laminar boundary layer. Turbulent boundary layer. Prandtl's equation of a finite wing. Solutions of the distribution of circulation along the span. Maximum lift coefficient, location of boundary layer separation. Aerodynamic characteristics of wings - lift, drag, pitching moment.
