Synopsis:

The course maps the history and development of the landscape and garden design from prehistory to the present. Contemporary trends in the postindustrial landscape design and protection of the landscape character are also discussed, including many practical problems during its implementation.

1. Introduction to the subject, discusion. 2. Development of the landscape cultivation by men, prehistory. 3. Historic gardens and parks, medieval landscape and human settlements. 4. Gardens of the Renaissance. 5. Gardens of Mannerism and the Baroque. 6. French classical parks and gardens. 7. Gardens, parks and landscapes in Bohemia. 8. Development of English gardens and parks. 9. Landscape parks in England and their influence in the world. 10. American gardens, parks and historic landscape protection. 11. Development of city park systems and parkways. 12. Contemporary gardens, parks and historic landscape protection. 13. Post-industrial landscape design, care and protection. 14. Presentation of papers, grading.
