Synopsis:

Topographic surfaces, orthogonal projections, perspective projection. Differential geometry of curves: parameterization, arc of the curve, torsion and curvature, Frenet`s trihedron, cartographic projections - azimuthal, cylinder and conic projections. Carthographic distortion - examples of equal area and conformal projections. Parametric surfaces, surfaces of revolution, quadrics, ruled quadrics, etc.

Requirements:

fundamentals of analytic geometry, differential and integral calculus of one real variable, anylitic geometry

Study Objective:

Basic methods of projection - orthographic and oblique projections. Parametrization of the curve, torsion and curvature. Application of differential geometry in road design. Cartographic projections - azimuthal, cylindrical and conical projections. Matlab softaware Use.
