Synopsis:

The course is intended for students who will study English as the major language and whose knowledge of English should already correspond to Level B2 according to the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is assumed, that the student should reach Level C1.

Course objective: The course focuses on consolidating communicative skills, practising difficult grammar points and covering selected fields of technical communication.

The course objective is to practise acquired grammar concepts, consolidate communicative skills with an emphasis on accuracy and fluency of the discourse, and create active topic-related vocabulary used in context, as well as to extend knowledge in the area of study.

Speaking & Writing: Talking about food associations, boredom, conversations, luck, etc. Discussing your identity, good taste, dangers, etc. Writing about another student, a restaurant review, a short newspaper article, etc.

Reading & Listening: Listening to various songs and audio recordings. Reading articles and extracts from books, papers, novels, etc.

Grammar, Vocabulary & Pronunciation: Adverbials, Phrasal Verbs, Describing Nouns, Adjective Order, Hedging, Negative and Limiting Adverbials, General Tendencies, Past Tendencies, Unreal Conditions, Wishes and Regrets, Verbs of the Senses, Participle Clauses, etc.

Specialised Texts: Specialised terminology from the area of study, discussions about texts, terminology, new technologies, ideas, current events in technologies, etc. Practicing some reading comprehension, presentation skills, and exercises and word formation with regards to the texts.
