Communication in networks, basic terms and definitions. Communication equipment and network. Control of communication in network. Principles of network architecture modelling. Reference model of open systems interconnection (RMOSI). RMOSI elements, layer functions, layer services. Communication protocols. Application of RMOSI for different networks ( public data networks, ISDN, LAN etc.). Telecommunications management network (TMN). Network performance parameters and evaluation.
