Synopsis:

Heat and work, kinetic theory of gases, ideal gas law, and thermodynamics.

Simple, damped and forces oscillations.

Mechanical, acoustic and electromagnetic waves and their properties.

Special theory of relativity, quantum and atomic physics, nuclear physics.

Requirements:

Active participation at the seminars, discussion of experimental results, 50% of points from the tests.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Temperature, heat, kinetic theory of gases, ideal gas law.

2. Work, internal energy, 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics, entropy.

3. Oscillations (simple, damped and forced), addition of oscillations.

4. Waves, superposition of waves, Doppler effect.

5. Intensity of waves, fundamentals of acoustics.

6. Electromagnetic waves.

7. Concepts in physical optics.

8. Dynamical systems (mechanical, electromechanical, hydrodynamical, thermical, chemical).

9. Fundamentals of theory of relativity, Lorentz transformation, mass and energy.

10. Fundamentals of quantum physics (radiation, photoelectric effect, and quantum levels).

11. Selected topics of quantum physics (potential well, tunnel effect).

12. Electron structure of atom, spectra.

13. Fundamentals of nuclear physics, radioactivity.

14. Nuclear energy, subnuclear particles.

3. Study of coupled oscillators.

4. Problems: oscillations and waves.

5. Measurement of the speed of sound in liquids.

6. Study of the standing acoustic waves.

7. Dynamical systems, solving of problems, examples.

8. Study of the light diffraction.

9. Problems: special theory of relativity.

10. Problems: quantum mechanics.

11. Franck-Hertz experiment.

12. Study of photoeffect.

13. Problems: atomic and nuclear physics.

14. Test.
