Functional surfaces of engineering components and their nature. Complex surface quality
(integrity)-exterior surface topography and interior subsurface changes. Experimental and analytical assessment of thermal and mechanical stress fields originated in the subsurface layers. Significant characteristics of the integrity:surface texture and roughness, subsurface metallurgy, residual stresses. An impact of the surface quality on the service life of highly loaded parts.
