Synopsis:

Solid and liquid crystals, amorphous metals. Symmetry of crystals and textures from plastic deformation, annealing and solidification. Structure and properties of solid materials. Phase interfaces and grain boundaries. Phase transformations in metallic systems (TP relationships between gaseous, liquid and solid phases either crystalline or amorphous). Controlled solidification of metals and alloys, homogenization of solid solutions and their decomposition. Martensitic and bainitic transformation. Failure and degradation processes in material. Linear and Elastic-Plastic Fracture Mechanics. Fatigue and Creep of materials. Corrosion processes. Irradiation damage.
