Synopsis:

To understand the generation and distribution of thermal energy. Mastering of main disciplines of heat transfer from fuel to the coolant.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

The rate of generation of energy and spatial distribution within a fuel element and within a core. Design of cooling system which involves the choice of coolant, the arrangement of fuel and coolant and the methods of energy removal (the heat transfer by conduction in the solid components, the heat transfer by convection and radiation from the fuel element to the coolant - single and two phase flow and heat transfer). Treatment of the thermal design of a reactor core. The transfer of thermal energy from the reactor coolant to raise steam.
