History of experiment, significance and position of theory, numerical methods and experiment, types of problem solving in engineering. Theory of experiment, modelling, similarity laws. Organisation of experiment, criteria for choice of experimental method. Measuring chain, instrument techniques and its characteristics. Measuring errors, interaction. Processing of measured data, assessment of results. Stochastic process and its characteristics. Experimental methods - strain gage techniques, photoelasticity, optical and interferometrical methods, application of thermal emission. Residual life analysis, method of acoustic emission. X ray measuring of strain. Transducers of mechanical quantities. Application in nontechnical branches.
