Automation of machine tool programming

Synopsis:

Utilizations of computer technique for preparation of NC programs for lathe and milling machinery. Utilizations of probes on CNC machine tool.

Requirements:

Knowledge of methods of cutting technology.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. CAD and CAD/CAM software description.

2. Geometrically and technologically oriented CAM software.

3. Technology utilization on CNC machines.

4. CNC machines programming and NC program verification.

5. Workshop floor programming software.

6. Complex CAD/CAM software - simultaneous engineering.

7. Measuring probes utilization on CNC machines.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. CAD/CAM - design in place and space.

2. CAD/CAM - geometrically oriented software.

3. CAD/CAM - technologically oriented software.

4. Program make-up for milling operations.

5. Roughing tool paths optimalization.

6. Finishing tool paths optimalization.

7. CL data verification.

8. NC program verification.

9. Cutting on CNC controlled milling cutter.

10. Cutting on CNC controlled milling cutter.

11. Cutting on CNC controlled milling cutter.

12. Work with the probe on CNC controlled milling cutter.

13. Resulting confrontation of CL data simulation and finished machina surface.

Study Objective:

Acquaint student with fundamental possibilities of automatization of programme preparation for CNC machine tools.
