The course surveys various methods of analogue and digital recording. First, it deals with an optical recording of sound onto film, followed by a magnetic recording of audio and video signal on tapes and discs. Then, a high-capacity recording on magneto-optical and optical principle is introduced. In conclusion, a solid state memory recording is introduced and new directions in this area are discussed
