Thermodynamics and aerodynamics of turbomachines. Pressure charging of internal combustion engines. Theory and design of ICE cooling systems.

Basic laws of continuum aerodynamics. Conservation of mass, angular momentum and energy. Closures. 2nd law of thermodynamics and mechanical energy dissipation, turbulence. Boundary layer features. Gas dynamics of subsonic a transonic flows, shock waves. Thermodynamics of gas turbine, efficiencies. Layout of gas turbines and turbocharged/turbocompounded engines. Internal aerodynamics of blade cascades. Cascade theories. Kutta - Žukovski theorem. Radial equilibrium. Axial and centripetal radial turbine. Radial centrifugal compressor. Cooling fans. Heat conduction - Fouriér?s law, rib temperature field. Convective heat transfer - energy balance and criteria odf heat transfer. Radiation. Basic types of heat exchangers and their calculations. Heat transfer in ICE and cooling systems. Unsteady heat transfer.
