Synopsis:

Basic working principles, current machining apllications, future development. Electrodischarge machining - principle, mechanism of material removal, hole and 3 - D schapes production, wire electrodischarge maschining. The utilization of the energy beams for machining - laser, electron and ion beams, plasma arc. Electrochemical machining - basic principle, applications, full - form shaping. Chemical machining. Water - jet and ultrasonic machining. Technological, economical and surface quality consideration when using nonconventional processes.Environmental and Safety Aspacts of Electrophysical and Electrochemical Processes.

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of phisics and chemistry.

1. Basic characteristics of nontraditional machining processes.

2. Electro-discharge machining I.

3. Electro-discharge machining II.

4. Electro-discharge machining III.

5. WEDM - Wire electro-discharge machining.

6. LBM - Laser beam machining .

7. Electron-beam, plasma-beam machining.

8. ECM - Electro chemical machining I.

9. ECM - Electro chemical machining II.

10. ECM - Electro chemical machining III.

11. Chemical machining.

12. Ultrasoud machining.

13. HDM, (WJM) - Hydrodynamic machining.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Introductory seminar, seminars organisation.

2. EDM applications.

3. EDM applications - visit in industry.

4. LBM applications - visit in industry.

5. LBM, PBM applications - comparison with WJM.

6. Seminar works discussion, assessment.

Study Objective:

Knowledge of basic material-removal principles in the field of non-conventional machining. Theoretical analysis of basic applications, present-day technological applications presentation, technological possibilities, economic and environmental aspects of non-conventional machining.
