Synopsis:

Relations between design, production technique and economic aspects.

Design considerations in casting, forming, welding, machining and assembly techniques. Basis for material and production technology selection. Component detailing for manufacture.

CNC basis and using CNC.

Requirements:

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Cocurrent engineering, relation to the design for production, economy, production costs calculation.

2. Surface integrity, general principles of the design for production.

3. Semi-product design considerations. Comparisons of casting, forming and welding.

4. Advantages, flexibility, difficulties and limitation of the casting process.

5. Principles of casting design with regard to stresses, impacts and fatigue. Reduction of casting weight. Factors influncing casting prize. Casting quality.

6. Rules for pattern design. Limitation and possibilities in sand casting. Defects induced by metal solidification. Principles of precision casting design.

7. Principles of the choice of casting materials. Relations between mechanical properties of test samples and real castins. Examples of material choice.

8. Constraints and possibilities of metal forming. Criteria in forging proces design. Principles of forging design. Factors influencig dimensional accuracy.

9. Design criteria in shearing, bending and deep drawing.

10. Constrains and possibilities of welding. Design for welding. Weldability of steels.

11. Design of rotary parts machined on CNC machines.

12. Design of non-rotary parts macined on CNC machines.

13. Fundamentals of design of parts machined on CNC machines.

14. Examples fit solution designs of parts machined on CNC machines.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Assignment of semestral works.

2. Consultations.

3. Suggestion recontouring and simulation parts in CAD for 2.5D miling.

4. Generation NC programme in CAM for milling machine.

5. Simulation CL data and contingent adjustment partprograms.

6. Checkout NC programme on CNC controlled milling cutter.

7. Submitting and supervision of semestral works.
